SOFTBALL ARTICLE & VIDEO INTERVIEWS: SOFTBALL DOMINATES HURON
Cassidy Lane was dominant in the circle, as the pitcher rang up 11 strikeouts in Margaretta Varsity Lady Polar Bears's 10-0 victory over Huron on Thursday. Lane gave up one hit and zero runs over five innings while walking none.
Margaretta Varsity Lady Polar Bears got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Lane homered to left field, scoring two runs, Isla Palomo drew a walk, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run.
Margaretta Varsity Lady Polar Bears scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lucy Edwards doubled, scoring two runs, Lane doubled, scoring one run, Brooke Hastings doubled, scoring one run, and Palomo singled, scoring one run.
Madison Holeman took the loss for Huron. The hurler went four and one-third innings, giving up 10 runs (seven earned) on 13 hits, striking out two and walking two.
Margaretta Varsity Lady Polar Bears collected 13 hits in the game. Lane drove the middle of the lineup, leading Margaretta Varsity Lady Polar Bears with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Hastings and Edwards each collected three hits for Margaretta Varsity Lady Polar Bears. Ellaynah Schaefer and Palomo each collected multiple hits for Margaretta Varsity Lady Polar Bears. Margaretta Varsity Lady Polar Bears were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Hastings made the most plays with 11.
