Senior Ellyse Schaefer finished the Division II State Golf Match in 25th place at Heatherwoode Golf Course in Springboro, Ohio just outside of Dayton. Ellyse shot an 85 yesterday, which placed her in 25th place after day 1. She got off to a slow start playing 12 over on the backside, but she did not let that bother her. As Ellyse made the turn to the front side she kicked it into high gear playing even golf for the first 8 holes on the front side. On the last hole Ellyse had a double bogey which placed put her final round total to a +14. Today, Ellyse was supposed to play the final 18 holes of the tournament. However, mother nature did not cooperate. She was slated to tee off at 10:45am, but it was eventually pushed back to 11:45am, but after heavy rain fall in the Dayton area OHSAA officials decided to cancel the tournament. Only scores from day one would be used. Ellyse's first round score would be her only score that would count. Ellyse's top 25 finish is an outstanding finish. She competed against the top 72 golfers in the State of Ohio in Division II. She is the first female golfer in Margaretta History to qualify for the State Golf Tournament.
