Ed Keller--Class of 1992
Mr. Ed Keller is a 1992 graduate of Margaretta High School and was a standout multi-sport athlete. He earned four varsity letters in track and field and three varsity letters in football, excelling as both a thrower and an offensive lineman. In 1992, he set the school record in the shot put with a throw of 52 feet, a mark that stood for an impressive 31 years. He was undefeated in the shot put during all regular-season meets in both the 1991 and 1992 track seasons and was named Margaretta Boys Track MVP in 1992.
On the football field, he served as a team captain during the 1990 and 1991 seasons and was recognized as a First Team All–Sandusky Bay Conference offensive tackle in 1991. He also earned Third Team All-Ohio honors as an offensive lineman that same year. In addition, he participated in powerlifting for four years, earning multiple medals and further showcasing his strength and dedication to athletics.
Dana Woodring--Head Football Coach--1979-1986
Coach Dana Woodring served as the Head Football Coach at Margaretta from 1979 to 1985, compiling an impressive 40-31-1 overall record. During his tenure, he led the Polar Bears to Sandusky Bay Conference championships in 1983 and 1985 and guided the program to its first-ever 10-0 regular season in 1985. His success earned him Northwest Ohio Football Coach of the Year honors in 1983. Beyond the field, he worked closely with the Margaretta Athletic Booster Club to establish the school’s first true weight room and formal weightlifting program.
Across a distinguished career, he retired with 42 years of teaching experience and 38 years of coaching experience. He was the winningest football coach in Madison High School history and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. Over 21 seasons as a high school head football coach, he compiled a 131-82-1 career record, led three undefeated teams, captured 10 conference championships, and guided four teams to the state playoffs.
