GIRLS SWIMMING WINS DUALS
Margaretta’s swimming teams delivered another strong performance during a demanding stretch of competition, highlighted by dominant results from the girls and multiple event victories on the boys side.
The Lady Polar Bears controlled their dual meets from start to finish, winning each by at least 31 points. Lexis Murray paced the effort with a victory in the 200 individual medley in 2:47.01. Kayla Aceto followed with a win in the 100 backstroke at 1:14.22, while Cassandra Bull captured the 100 freestyle in 1:10.32.
Margaretta’s relay depth was on full display as the same four swimmers — Sydnie Riedy, Murray, Kylee Aceto and Kayla Aceto — swept both freestyle relay events. The group posted a winning time of 2:00.37 in the 200 freestyle relay and closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:30.81.
Riedy added a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle, and Murray turned in another strong performance with a runner-up showing in the 500 freestyle.
On the boys side, sophomores Jace Berg and Dusty Bath led the way with individual victories. Berg won the 50 freestyle in 26.20, edging the field by a narrow margin, and later finished second in the 100 butterfly. Bath followed with a win in the 100 freestyle in 55.45 and added a second-place result in the 200 individual medley.
The meet marked Margaretta’s sixth competition in a two-week span, and the Polar Bears continued to show consistency and improvement across events despite the heavy schedule.
Margaretta will look to build on the momentum as the season moves forward.
