Margaretta girls stay unbeaten in SBC Bay with road win at Vermilion VERMILION, Ohio — Margaretta continued its strong start to the season Tuesday night, using defensive pressure and balanced scoring to pull away for a 57-30 victory over Vermilion. The win improved the Lady Bears to 9-1 overall and kept them perfect in Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division play at 4-0. Margaretta set the tone early, opening a 19-9 lead after the first quarter and steadily extending the margin throughout the game. The Lady Bears took control before halftime, building a 31-12 advantage, and maintained momentum coming out of the break to put the game out of reach. Defense fueled the run, as Margaretta limited Vermilion’s scoring chances and forced difficult possessions. The Lady Bears pushed the lead to 45-22 after three quarters and closed the game with a strong fourth quarter effort. Cassidy Lane led Margaretta with 18 points, providing consistent scoring across all four quarters. Ellyse Schaefer added 14 points, while Thea Wybensinger finished with 13 points as the Lady Bears showcased balance throughout the lineup. Margaretta finished with 17 field goals and continued to execute efficiently on both ends of the floor, a trend that has defined its early-season success. The Lady Bears now turn their attention to a highly anticipated conference showdown Saturday against Willard.
