BEARS GET BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN
Bears Bounce Back & Beat Vermilion, 78–48
VERMILION, Ohio — Julian Washington scored a game-high 33 points as Margaretta pulled away in the 2nd half and cruised to a 78–48 victory over Vermilion on Friday night.
The Polar Bears used steady defensive pressure and balanced offense to take an 18–9 lead after one quarter and a 35–29 advantage at halftime before breaking the game open in the second half.
Washington added eight rebounds, five assists and three steals to go with his scoring effort. Judah Keller had 12 points and added with eight rebounds and six assists, while Kale Bailey and Tyson Bailey each finished with 11 points.
Defensively, the Polar Bears used their full court pressure to force turnovers throughout the night. Tyson Bailey led the effort with four steals as Margaretta consistently turned defense into transition scoring opportunities.
The Sailors were unable to keep pace as Margaretta extended its lead to 55–35 after three quarters and continued to stretch the margin in the fourth.
Margaretta will be back in action tonight when it travels to Tiffin Calvert for a JV/Varsity contest only.
