Fast start powers Margaretta past Port Clinton CASTALIA, Ohio (AP) — Margaretta set the tone early and never relinquished control Friday night, rolling to a 75–49 victory over Port Clinton at the Iceberg. The Polar Bears jumped out to a dominant first quarter, scoring 25 points while forcing multiple turnovers and sharing the ball on the offensive end. The early surge proved decisive as Margaretta improved to 13–1 overall and 6–0 in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division. Tyson Bailey opened the scoring on Margaretta’s first possession, and the Bears quickly built a double-digit advantage behind contributions from several players. Margaretta raced to a 12–0 lead before Port Clinton got on the board midway through the opening quarter and carried a 25–11 advantage after eight minutes. Margaretta continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, using defensive stops to fuel transition opportunities. Julian Washington sparked the run with a powerful finish at the rim late in the half, helping the Bears extend the margin to 39–18 at the break. Washington led all scorers with 25 points, including 17 in the first half. Keiygan Morris added 13 points, while Kale Bailey finished with 12 as Margaretta placed three players in double figures. Eight different Bears scored in the game. The Polar Bears kept control in the third quarter, pushing the lead past 25 points before taking a 58–35 advantage into the final period. Margaretta continued to build the cushion in the fourth, highlighted by another emphatic finish from Washington as the Bears closed out the win. The Bears have now won five straight games since a late-December loss and will look to continue their strong conference run in their next outing.
