Schaefer Breaks Career 3-Point Mark as Lady Bears Cruise Past Edison
CASTALIA — History met dominance Saturday night inside the Iceberg as the Margaretta Lady Bears rolled to a 76–29 Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division victory over Edison Chargers.
The win pushed Margaretta to 15–1 overall and a perfect 8–0 in SBC Bay play, but the night belonged to senior guard Ellyse Schaefer, who etched her name into the program record book.
Schaefer buried a three-pointer in the first quarter to become the school’s all-time leader in career three-pointers made. She later connected from beyond the arc again, finishing the night with two triples and raising her career total to 137. The previous record of 135 was held by Eden Palomo.
Margaretta seized control early, jumping out to a 23–5 lead after the first quarter and continuing to build the advantage behind balanced scoring and constant defensive pressure.
Five Lady Bears reached double figures, led by Cassidy Lane, who poured in a game-high 15 points. Schaefer followed with 12, while Addy Fitzthum added 11. Renna Keller and Kenadie Saylor each chipped in 10.
Margaretta finished the night with eight made three-pointers and continued to show why it remains one of the top teams in Division VI.
