The Polar Bear Swim team saw several athletes qualify for the Regional Meet over the weekend. The Regional Meet will be on Friday, February 20th. The girls meet will begin at 10:00am, while the boys will begin at 4:00pm. Both meets will be held at Bowling Green State University. Margaretta’s girls team advanced two relay teams and saw several swimmers qualify in individual events. The 200-yard medley relay team of Sydnie Reidy, Kylee Aceto, Kayla Aceto and Lexis Murray earned a district berth, showcasing balance across all four strokes. The same quartet — Reidy, Murray, Kylee Aceto and Kayla Aceto — also qualified in the 400-yard freestyle relay, giving the Polar Bears strength in both the medley and distance relay formats. Individually, Margaretta qualified swimmers in six events: Kayla Aceto – 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke Kylee Aceto – 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke Sydnie Reidy – 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle Lexis Murray – 500 freestyle In total, the girls program advanced four swimmers in eight individual event entries, in addition to their two relay squads. ????? Boys District Qualifiers The Margaretta boys matched that effort with three relay teams and multiple individual qualifiers heading to Bowling Green. The 200 medley relay team of Kaleb Weyer, Cohen White, Jace Berg and Bren Smith secured a district spot. The 200 freestyle relay of Bren Smith, Will Coffman, Jace Berg and Dusty Bath also advanced. Rounding out the relay qualifiers, the 400 freestyle relay team of Will Coffman, Cohen White, Cole Zang and Dusty Bath earned a district berth. Individually, Margaretta qualified swimmers in four events: Jace Berg – 100 butterfly Cohen White – 100 breaststroke Dusty Bath – 50 freestyle Altogether, the boys team qualified three individual swimmers in three events, plus three relay teams.
