MARGARETTA SOFTBALL STARTS 3-1
The Margaretta Lady Bears put together a strong and exciting week, finishing 3-1 while showcasing a powerful combination of hitting, pitching, and aggressive base running.
The week was headlined by standout performances from Cassidy Lane, who made a major impact in every phase of the game. The Lady Bears totaled 13 hits in the game, with Brooke Hastings and Lucy Edwards each collecting multiple hits, while Kenadee Lesch added patience at the plate with multiple walks. Lesch also earned the win in the circle, going the distance with 10 strikeouts.
Margaretta carried that momentum into Tuesday’s 8-5 win over Hopewell-Loudon, where Lane dominated in the circle with 12 strikeouts over six innings while also going 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and two singles. The offense again piled up 13 hits, with Ellaynah Schaefer and Lane each driving in two runs. Lucy Edwards and Lesch added multiple hits, and the Lady Bears were relentless on the bases, stealing nine bases as a team, with Schaefer, Tessa Lane, Edwards, and Lane all swiping multiple bags.
On Thursday, the Lady Bears showed their resilience in a 14-5 comeback win over Monroeville after trailing by four early. The turning point came during an explosive eight-run fourth inning fueled by key contributions from Lesch, Edwards, and Hastings, who delivered a two-run double. Margaretta continued to pour it on late, finishing with 14 runs while drawing nine walks and stealing an impressive 14 bases. Lane added another home run in the game, while Lesch earned the win, striking out seven over nearly seven innings.
The only blemish of the week came in a narrow 5-4 loss to Oak Harbor. Despite the outcome, Margaretta stayed competitive throughout, with Lesch leading the way offensively by going 2-for-3. Schaefer contributed on both sides with an RBI and two stolen bases, and the Lady Bears showed fight by closing the gap late.
Across the week, Margaretta consistently produced at a high level offensively, totaling double-digit hits in multiple games, while combining for 23 stolen bases in just two contests. In the circle, Lane and Lesch anchored the pitching staff with dominant strikeout performances and key innings in all three wins.
Overall, it was a well-rounded and impressive week for the Lady Bears, highlighted by explosive offense, strong pitching performances, and relentless pressure on the basepaths.
