BOYS & GIRLS TRACK TEAMS SWEEP HURON
CASTALIA — Margaretta turned in a strong all-around performance Tuesday night, sweeping both the boys and girls dual meet against Huron at home. The Polar Bear girls secured a 72-54 victory, while the boys edged out a tight 63-59 win behind depth, relay strength, and dominant field events.
Girls: Balanced attack powers Margaretta to 72-54 win
Margaretta’s girls used a combination of relay dominance and field event success to control the meet from start to finish.
The Polar Bears opened with a win in the 4x800 relay, as Aryanna Ahner, Lainey Woolaver, Jacquelyn Yeckley, and Julia Packman combined for a 12:58.96 finish. They followed that with another relay victory in the 4x200, where Aiyana Pasch, Maddie Evans, Layla Kuns, and Willow Kuns clocked 2:01.91.
Margaretta continued its relay sweep in the 4x100, with Lillian Belak, Ellaynah Schaefer, Willow Kuns, and Kenadie Saylor winning in 55.45.
Belak also starred individually, winning the 100 hurdles (16.63) and 300 hurdles (49.06) to score 10 points.
Pasch added another key victory in the 400 (1:08.43) and placed in pole vault, while Layla Kuns took second in the 400 to give Margaretta a 1-2 finish.
In the field events, Margaretta dominated:
Kenadee Lesch swept both throwing events, winning shot put (31-8) and discus (115-1)
Lillian Kimball and Cassandra Bull completed a shot put sweep (2nd and 3rd)
Kali Elliott added a runner-up finish in discus
Kenadie Saylor had a huge night, winning both the high jump (5-0) and long jump (17-4), while also contributing to the winning 4x100 relay.
Additional scoring came from:

Maddie Evans (3rd, 800)
Olivia Salyers (2nd, 300 hurdles)
Carmella Fitzthum (2nd, pole vault)
Margaretta’s depth across relays and field events proved too much, sealing the 18-point victory.
Boys: Field events and relays lift Margaretta in tight 63-59 win
The boys meet came down to the wire, but Margaretta used key wins in the field and relays to outlast Huron.
The Polar Bears got a huge boost from the throws, where Jace Berg dominated:
1st in shot put (45-3)
1st in discus (169-7)
Teammate Brendyn Huber added runner-up finishes in both events, giving Margaretta major points in the field.
Margaretta also controlled the pole vault, sweeping the top two spots:
Colt Watson (1st, 13-6)
Perry McGraw (2nd, 11-0)
On the track, McGraw added a win in the 110 hurdles (16.03) and a second-place finish in the 300 hurdles.
The Polar Bears were dominant in the relays:
4x100 relay (Zack Bouy, Carter Luzader, Kale Bailey, Julian Washington) — 1st (43.48)
4x200 relay (Landon Garbe, Lucas Downs, Antonio Ramon-Quintero, Brayden Ballard) — 1st (1:44.79)
In distance events, William Coffman delivered a win in the 800 (2:45.75), while Cohen White placed second in the 1600.
